Statement: 3rd January 2021
Assalamu ‘Alaikum,
After five years of service, it is with a heavy heart that, I have decided to step down from my role as CEO of the National Huffadh Association UK, effective 31st January 2021.
Spending more time with my family has been the greatest reason behind my decision. I wish to personally thank my wife and daughter, for their unwavering support and allowing me with the time to focus on the work behind NHA UK.
This has not been an easy decision to make but one that I pray is a means of bringing about further progression of the work behind our organisation. Despite the fact that this was a voluntary role, the time spent serving our organisation has been amazing and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my service.
It was always my aspiration to setup an organisation dedicated to the Qur’an and this was achieved when NHA UK was founded in 2016. It was also always my intention that the organisation to ensure would continue, with or without my leadership. The work of the Qur’an is always far greater than any individual.
I am extremely proud of the progress that we have made as an organisation, having not only a national but a strong international presence too. In particular, we have managed to develop and create our very own Tahfidh (Memorize) mobile application which is full of Hifdh resources.
In 2020 we had successfully created and launched the global ‘Taraweeh at Home’ campaign with the aim of encouraging families to connect with Ramadan, despite being at home during lockdown. Our WhatsApp and social media support networks have always been very popular and thousands of people have benefited from our services over the years.
I am grateful to everyone who has followed and supported our work on social media. Alhamdulillah, we have also managed to host our National Qur’an Memorisation and Recitation Competition consecutively over four years and for the past two years we managed to introduce a separate females’ competition, which has been very well received. In 2020, we hosted the first ever virtual National Qur’an competition. Again, this proved to be a huge success with over 40,000 people tuning in from around the world to view the live event.
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, NHA UK has been at the forefront of providing a wide range of Madrasah and Hifdh resources to support and assist institutions across the world.
I would also like to personally thank our two Directors Jamal Mannan and Sultan Ahmed, who have both played prominent roles respectively in the progress and development of our organisation. I am extremely indebted to each for their support and understanding in the making of my decision to resign as CEO.
In the interim, our day-to-day affairs will be managed by Mijanul Islam – National Youth Development Manager and be overseen by the aforementioned Board of Directors.
Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers, supporters and donors who unequivocally supported our work across the globe. Your support and du’as have been invaluable and I pray that you continue to support our organisation.
The work of the Qur’an always continues. A humble request for du’aas.
Wa ‘Alaikumussalam.
